Jose Padilla has weaved a web of magic on this disc that can only be "Cafe del Mar". Miro's earlier paradise, a slower more "enigma-esque" groove follows and brings beats into the picture so that others can follow while still maintaining that pensive, relaxed mood. Pat Meheny follows next with a nice island/flamenco/guitar track that really takes you away. It is a piano solo that moves in and out with sweeping emotion. I personally love Nova Nova's "Tones" (Track 2). These tracks are not only relaxing but are very beautiful and deeply satisfying. The first four tracks are a very relaxing set of ambient/balearic tunes that really elevate the listener. Out of all the Cafe Del Mar series, this one has the smoothest blend of music.but it is more consistent and flows well. When I put this CD in for the first time I was just blown away at the beauty on this disc.
What a great record! To be honest, I was a bit hesitant in getting vol.3 since it was the only one of the Cafe Del Mar series to be "domesticated" in the U.S. Café del mar 1 may have the slight edge - but the feel is not lost here - and there are, like in every volume- a few exceptional gems. I feel like with the other café del mar compilations, outside Ibiza, José Padilla and the music associated with him have not basked in the sunlight of recognition deserved. Sure enough after hearing the chilling sounds of: Sabres of Paradise's Orchestral 'Haunted Dancefloor' the sublime, more upbeat poetry of Paco De Lucia's, no-frills Spanish guitar and bong piece 'Entre Dos Aguas'. At first, I was sceptical of this album I wasn't sure it would be able to better first volume. Blinky Blue Eyed Sunrise-The Metaluna Mutant (The Making Of.) Jill-Mark's & Henry'sġ2. Sabor De Verano (The Way Out West Mix)-Jose Padillaĩ. Easter Song-A Man Called Adam With Eddie Parkerħ. Tarenah (Chill Mix)-Psychedelic Research LabĤ. Moment Scale (Dubmaster X Remix)-Silent PoetsĢ.
